I would just like to say "thank you" to everyone whom has left me feed back, good or bad. This is quite the learning experience for me and all of you have helped me get better every day i step behind the grinder. I hope the in put keeps coming so i can further this experience and love of knife making. -Josh

Gee you are welcome Josh. I for one am glad you didnt run off and join the circus. It takes a man to come back after all the crap we gave you. FWIW you are turning out better stuff now but I still wish you would try to make a Loveless Drop Point just to see if you can.
Bruce

Without reiterating everything that jgcustoms said, I'll just add a 'me too' and a -

Hear, hear!

bruce, When you say a loveless drop point... like this or a harder drop than this? Sorry if i am way off on this and it is not what you meant

Thanks Steven
Yes this is a classic Loveless Drop Point. Its OK to copy this knife exactly. Bob even wrote books and made videos how to make it. It will help you with all the basics in knifemaking including design and function. It will also sell great for good money if you can do it just like this.

BTW Mike Lovett made this one. Its a dead ringer for the Loveless. Mike is buried in orders for Lovesless style knives because he does them so well.

the bolster on this is one piece correct? I dont have a mill if that is the case. I am a little limited on what i can make for the tools i have. I have a wish list for christmas and a good sander and mill is on it!

Yes the guard is one piece but it slides on from the bottom. You can cut the slot with a hack saw and finish it with a file. Thats whats nice about this design is you dont need special tools although I hope Santa brings you that milling machine.

"How to Make Knives" by Robert Loveless and Richard Barney has sections on how to do that style guard with power tools AND with hand tools only. I highly recommend it, not only for making Loveless-style knives, but also for general information and inspiration.
By the way, welcome back.
