A while back Mr Humppa was inquiring about the differend size Stockmans made by Buck, so I contacted him offering to send to him a 303...I had more than I needed, and inspired by the generousity I have observed on this forum felt like paying it forward a bit...Andi had another idea! Let's make this a trade he replied...so there it was. I mailed him a package with the knife and a couple surprise items :)
Mr Humppa sent me these in return, and I must admit, I was a little blown away by his kindness. The knife is an Friedrich Hartkopf with a beautiful image of the Fravenkirche ( Woman's Church ) and the Munchen Kindle ( Munichs Child ). Also sent was an Edelweiss medal that Andi earned in the army! ( I have yet to make the shadowbox to display this treasure Andi ) I am still touched beyond words by this exchange, and the most I can do is say,
Thank You Andi...:)

Hands across the water! Global neighborliness!
The world needs more of this - nice going, guys!!

Good on both of ya. Very nice knife and medal. I just posted yesterday about a knife I received from Andi yesterday.

I like the covers on that knife. Great art work.

Just plain awsome. I love this place. Congrats to the both of you  thats a nice lookin knife, that medal is very nice. Whats the stort behind it? Thanks for sharing sitflyer

Wow, that's really great!

Did the knife and medal really make it to you safely in a regular (or maybe reinforced plastic) envelope with some stamps on it...?

Shipping is sure a lot easier with two postal systems one can trust.

It did make it safely, but shipping took a while form Andi to me...I think it is pretty much luck of the draw how long items can take...Customs and all. I like to use the small Priority boxes, but padded in a plastic envelope works just as well...

Yes, saw that, and I thank you, for that served as a kick in the pants to me to do likewise ;)

Wow...just beautiful items Andi! I just love the medal. I learned about it in the movie Band of Brothers. Its an alpine flower, that European men went after, at very high elevations, risking life and limb, to obtain. It is a talisman of courage. Just perfect, Andi!!
Can't wait to see the shadow box, Sitlfyer!

Awesome!

I love this forum...and as soon as I get the chance I need to post some pics myself. I wish I could figure out the fancy camera my wife has. I miss using my 35mm Minolta SLR, set the shutter, set the apeture, focus, click, develop. Darn digital :D

Thank you fellows, for the kind words.

It´s nice to see both of them again, Duane. The knife and the Edelweiss. I´m glad you enjoy both of them.

The medal has a little history, as Gevonovich also said. When I was 19/20 I was in the german army and got it. Here´s the history of them... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gebirgsjäger The place I had to serve was not far away from home, so I decided to go the Mountain Rifleman.
I was nearly sure you would like it, Duane :)

Kind regards
Andi
