I've had an extremely stressful couple of weeks. The intense pressure of a high profile project with many technical challenges has been increasing and then yesterday, due to COVID19 business impacts, a very fine young man had to be let go. He's a great kid, all alone in a foreign country, and now out of a job. He'll be alright in the long term but man it hit me hard. He took a liking to me early so I've sort of been mentoring him over the short time he was with us.

I was at work and feeling very down today when my wife sent me a message that I'd received a package from France. Now, naturally, she thought I'd gone off and bought a knife without telling her. :D I assured her I did not and to just open it. It didn't even click to me what was actually happening...

She said it was a nice box of French chocolates. And that's when it clicked that it had to be a gift from Âchillepattada Âchillepattada . I'd entered @eisman 's GAW on his behalf and thought wow, how nice of him. It felt very good and perked me up. I sent him a note here to thank him for the chocolates and he said he was glad the parcel arrived so quickly.

Then I got home...

See, my wife just opened the shipping packaging and saw the nice box and handwritten note that she just glanced at.

Well, I got home and went straight to the fridge, grabbed a cold beer and had a long pull. Then I plunked down in my chair and picked up the little French box and the handwritten note.

When I got to the word "laguiole"...well...I'm not too proud to say I got a little emotional...

Thank you so much my friend! The timing of this incredibly thoughtful and completely unexpected gift could not have been better and I am truly moved. The whole reason I entered you into the GAW was because of your incredible generosity. :)

The world is good friends. No matter how crazy it is out there right now, it is good and it is filled with good, every day folks. And I am so glad that so many of those good folks are right here on the Porch.

Thank you.

Okay, okay, that's all... I need to blow my nose... Allergies ya know...

Nothing like French chocolate, especially one that cuts.

Wonderful, Eli! What a great gesture, Âchillepattada Âchillepattada !:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'm very happy to read that my little parcel is arrived at the right moment .

The world is increasingly hard and sad and it's very easy to become negative.
And on the other hand it's increasingly easy to find ways to stay positive .

Thanks to the Porch for this .
