A theory about the LBNMSHBM. Anyone else have any ideas?

In Jerry's thread about which of the Light Brigade series we'd like to see first, the Argonne Assault & Team Gemini both were said to have deep hollow grinds, whereas there was no mention of the grind of the LBSHBM. So I've been thinking about how an 11" blade with the LB treatment is not going to be incredibly blade heavy.

The only theory I can come up with is that the LBNMSHBM is going to be thin! I can't see how an 11" blade meant for chopping can have the deep hollow grind that was shown on the TG in Jerry's original post about the LB treatment. Even though it will be INFI, I can't see how an edge that thin could survive heavy chopping.

So my guess is that the LBNMSHBM will have a 3/16" or 7/32" thick FFG blade.

Of course, Jerry is a genius, so maybe he has some other method of lightening the blade that will astonish us.

In all honesty, I would like the blade at that thickness. It would be a very light Bushwhacking blade. After the B-10, Dog Fathers, & both 9-11s, I'm not sure I'll need another fatty, and it would be more affordable (or so I hope.)

What do you guys think?

Ahh. Thanks. At least I got that part right. So maybe it will be .25" and balance sort've like the DF LE. I hope it isn't priced more than the NMFBM. My wallet can't take that kind of hit along with all the other blades that are coming out soon.

I'm hoping it will be .27" thick, but a Light Brigade treatment with a flat grind has me wondering how it will look. The handle will be thinned out, but does that mean the spine will be shaved down a little too to cut weight (like the AA and the TG)?

I'm really puzzled on how it will look but I can't wait to see it

My BWM CF is .18 full convex and chops anything I put in front of it so I don't think thin will be a problem. But like you said I would doubt that hollow ground would be the answer on the SHBM so I would have to go with thin.

Even if the blade was .400" thick it wouldn't be terribly blade heavy. More so than other full exposed tang busse knives to date, but not so far out there when compared to hidden tang khukuries that are often 1/2" thick at the spine with a thin tapering stick tang, or even the basic 11. The knife to the far right is much more forward balanced than either the TTKZ or the basic 11. It's 1/2" thick yet it's lighter than the TTKZ because there's so much more metal in the TTKZ's handle.

Even with the light brigade treatment, I wouldn't expect the balance to shift as far forward as it would with a basic style handle, there will still be a LOT of metal in the handle to keep the balance towards the hand. It isn't so much about making it feel like a hammer, it's about making it feel like more of a chopper while lightening the overal weight.
