a tip for those who like strops...

:
That's not a bad price for a strop that size and pre loaded as well.
And it's a real nice size for straight blades up to 8"-10"
long.

I prefer strops for my khukuri's with around 13"-14" on the leather part and no wider than 1 1/8" in order to get into the recurves really well. I haven't tried the olive oil on my strops, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
I prefer neatsfoot oil as it will help preserve the leather and it doesn't solidify or get sticky.YMMV

In my brother's bathroom now hangs the old strop my dad used for years and one I nicked when I was learning to sharpen a straight razor. What memories! But, perhaps sadly, none of us own or use a straigh razor anymore. In fact, I don't use a razor of any kind. Easier just to clip the beart with an electric clipper and let the whiskers fall where they may. I ain't gonna win anymore beauty contests at age 67.
