...and yeah, I need to oil and wax the Amboyna. Just received it yesterday.

Not sure if there were any others besides the Bubinga handled one made for AG Russell. But since the Amboyna (made for Moteng) has a model number ending in "5" I wonder if there were in fact five handle flavors. Anyone know?

Very nice pics. I need to get one of these OVB's are maybe even a few

Nice pics Bald1, thanks for sharing. You sure got some pretty ironwood on yours. I've got the fiddleback maple and ironwood myself.

Really nice knives !!!!

The wood is very well chosen.

How do they cut ? are they strong ?

I have never red a hard using test about this model , neither on the bigger one too.

Thank you.

How many were made with the 7" blade? Which handle options were available for them?

Dennis,

I know only 150 of the Amboyna were made. I think there are some older threads where Will said 500 each of the maple and ironwoods. And if memory serves only 200-250 of the Bubinga AG Russell handled. Still not sure if there was one other handle material used on the 7 3/4" Fisk Commanche inspired OVB bowies or not. That's what I'm hoping this thread will answer.

Elde,

I've only used one of mine (my maple). It is light and very fast in the hand, doing well as an all around camp knife. I prefer something heavier for any real chopping work. They are great knives for everything else!
