Teamed up with Kuruptd thismorning and took a drive to Conn to visit Tonym
We hiked into a cool spot TOny knew of and worked on some skills..BigMike Joined us shortly after we arrived. A good time was had by all
Some pics from the Hike in:
Kuruptd crossing the Log bridge of doom
The talented Tonym
Me and kuruptd crossing the Log bridge in tandem
Tony got the fire going Lickty split, with a misch rod an natural tinder
so I got working on my project for the day (making a wooden cntainer to boil water) it was a mix of success and failure ( mostly failure)
first I needed a section of log to use as my container
my fiskars axe made short work of it
once I got the section I wanted I used the fiskars an my mora to cut a channeled depression in the surface of the wood
The depression ws than filed with coals and allowed to burn..than it was scraped out, an the process was repeated
eventually It held about 12 ounces of water
I placed some heated rocks inside..( it definitely sizzled an percolated a bit.) but the depression was still to narrow and shallow to accomodate the stones I needed to really get a god boil
It was a fairly labor intensive process..... but one I plan to replicate son with a larger log, and hopefully greater success
More to come
