The bowie knife was one that I had been considering for awhile. Im gouing to try and see if this will be a useful pattern, for general use hunting and fishing yard work and so forth. The other one will see some use to douing the same. Fit and finish on the bowie is fair, but is hair shaving sharp. The fit and finish on the RR844 is great and also hair shaving sharp. Not to bad IMO for two knives for 34.00 dollars. If the bowie proves to be a useful pattern I will get one thats better quality. Thanks for looking.

I live about 45 mins from SMKW, and grew up about 60 miles from where New Graham knives is located. Im taking vacation and plan on visting New Graham this summer.

So, how many hours did you spend there? :D

The last time I was there (on a rainly day during a visit to GSM Nat'l Park), I think I spent at least three hours browsing their selction and displays (and walked out a couple hundred dollars poorer!).

Definetly a great place to visit for the knife fan.

I was there for a couple of hours, had the wife and daughter with me, so I just browsed around a little bit. The wife said she seen a sign about making your own knife starting at 35 dollars. She asked me if thats what I wanted for fathers day, Duh.

(and walked out a couple hundred dollars poorer!).

But richer in sharp things. Gotta see the positive trade-off there. :D

I have the Cheaper Than Dirt version of that big rosewood-handled bowie, it looks a little different but basically it's the same. Mine chopped through everything I put in front of it, and (big surprise) held an edge for a long time; I put it through several weeks of nasty kill-it-deader-than-dead abuse, and finally sharpened it about the third week.

The blade tip will break off on you, sooner or later, but a little time at the grinder will give you a stronger tip anyway. The scales will shrink, too. But overall, it's a good user/abuser to have around.

Ironically enough, the sheath that came with mine was awesome. Well made, good thick leather, and fits a couple of my other FB's.

thx - cpr

Your Rough Rider looks familar. Not exactly like it, but darn close. Got mine off ebay for $9.95 free shipping. I felt bad so I got a few other knives from the seller. I feel like I stole it. Here is a pic of mine.

The fit and finish on mine it great. Near perfect. And is razor sharp as well. I have a bald arm to prove it. I really like it. I have not used it much yet.

I was told a trip there was worth it, and that is so true. I spent 3-4 hours there one day. The old, historical samples there were fascinating. High above a doorway was a board with a bunch of old antique fixed-blade and "survival" knives. Half of them were in my old warbag at home and are still users. I guess that make me an antique too.

Plus they have about every knife made today, and at good prices. Do stop by.
