This Kinjal style blade was commissioned a while back - and I have finally finished it up! For, what appears to be a relatively simple design, it sure challenged by ability, or lack thereof! As it turned out, all the struggle was worth it - it has a nice balance for a big blade, the ebony handle finished beautifully, and the hamon, with the fuller, really made the blade pop. The damascus hardware and dark sheath give it that old world feel. The title true fighter comes from the battle I fought with this thing! 3 blades and 2 sheaths later - IT IS DONE!

wow... simple and complicated all at the same time.... wheres that "like" button?

A beautiful job. As Matt says, "simple and complicated". I'll add "clean," and pared down to the essence.

That's some nice sheath, too.

That's a real beauty Steve, I really like that last pic showing the hamon. The sheath is very nice as well.

The heavy hitters have been coming out to display lately. Knives and makers.

What a piece! That sheath looks fantastic.

Thanks everyone! It's kinda fun to work through a vision you have in your head. The customer gave me a lot of latitude on this one (which was good because it took a long time for my vision to come to me) It amazes me how something that looks so simple on paper can get complicated in 3 dimensional.

I am doing my first dagger, and scrapped the first version of it. I had no idea what a challenge a dagger would be.

Knife sheath and handle are all terrific! I would prefer a guard on something like this, but I've always been a bit of a wuss :)

Beautiful Kinjal style.
I really like the Kinjal .......and the Shashka as well for that matter.

Thanks Seth - and yes, if I wasn't going for this particular kinjal style, I'd prefer a guard as well!

Appreciate all the kind remarks. Steve

Very nicely done. I like not only the total package but realizing how difficult it can be to get these guys right. I would like to undertake the challenge one of these days but the idea of basically doing four grinds and getting them near perfect on something of this length well sounds like a real pain. You did a great job of it.

I love it. You really pulled that off nicely. Great adaptation of a very interesting design.

Great job on this. Like everyone has said really clean lines and it's not too busy. It would be tempting to do something really fancy on the handle and it would spoil it. Looks great and the sheath is a very tidy job too.
