Hi Truth_Seeker. Welcome to the Blade forums. I read your post with interest and curiosity. I thought to help you in your quest.

Mike, you can shut this down if you want to ... after the "Seeker" and the Forumites hear the truth.

I cannot speak for CRKT as all I know of the current situation is what I've learned on the forums.

I cannot speak for Les & Kershaw, but I will say that Benchmade and Kershaw have a good relationship and have had for years which does make your information suspect.

I can speak for Sal. I can tell you that Sal has never called Customs or any one else on Pacific Cutlery or anyone else. I was a dealer for Pacific Cutlery. This story is a fabrication.

When Les showed me the prototype AFCK. He asked to license our hole opener. He said that he needed a "hot" item to help launch the newly formed Benchmade. He said an association with Spyderco would go in his favor.

We agreed on Royalty terms and would continue same until either party chose to terminate.

I made suggestions to the design, which were incorporated into the final production, making it highly unlikely that they were already built. Another fabrication?

AKTI is run by a group of Regents, Not Les & Sal. And actually I am no longer on the AKTI Board, although I still support it.

I can say that AKTI does not, at this time, have the resources to try to fight the "Federal Switchblade law".

I would have to charge that "those who are well known in the knife making world" are having a memory problem, or perhaps an integrity problem? And if you are comfortable in repeating them, I feel sorry for you.

You now have your truth, Seeker.

Great reply Sal...I think I and everyone else suspected 'truth-seeker' was full of it. Glad you chimed in here.

UPDATED and REVISED

Sal,
I realize, given the nature of the accusations, that you felt compelled to reply. But in all honesty, it was pretty clear from the start that the "truth seeker" was a BS maker. Anonymous posts slinging rumors are to be given the credence they deserve--i.e., none. Thanks for your post Sal but it wasn't necessary from my perspective. And I'm sure there are a whole bunch of other forumites that feel the same way and hold you in the highest regard.

Never occured to me to take Truth-seeker's post seriously since I don't know him personally. The only people I bother listening to are those I respect and trust, like Sal Glesser.

Mud-slinging and character assassination I skip over since there are always plenty of folks who enjoy passing unsubstantiated rumours and hearsay off as 'truth' in the hope of gaining some notoriety.

Nothing like getting it from the horses mouth. In this case, the Spyder's mouth.

Sal,
Thanks for setting the record straight. It's sad that there are actually people in the world who have to try to ruin another's life because they don't have one of their own.

I didn't believe the joker for a heartbeat. There's no way I can believe that the knife industries top men are calling "mommy" on each other. At least not without seeing hard evidence with my own eyes.

Thanks for posting out your position on the matter, Sal. It certainly helps to have the words of one of the parties involved by the post in question. Shows you're a stand-up gent, as if THAT was ever cast into question.

Still, I'm left with so many (probably unanswerable) questions...why post out a tale like that, obviously without backup, KNOWING that everybody would immediately pounce on it and call "Foul?!?" What's the point?

Anyone who had made even a cursory exam of the forum would have to be aware that we're a pretty tight-knit bunch, even those of us who don't particularly like one another. We're dysfunctional, but we're family--a big fraternity of sorts...and "Nobody abuses our Pledges but us!", to quote the immortal classics. It just seems pointless. Anyone would immediately see that such a claim would be taken as fluff, without empirical evidence to the contrary.

Hmm...curiouser and curiouser. Anyway, thanks again, Sal, for clearing the air for us all!
