Never thought I'd see a Chris Reeve in this forum, but I thought you guys might be interested in this knife I stumbled onto.

It's the CRK Helix. Chris is no longer making them, and only a few were made. The worst part is that this knife, if you can find one, costs about 100 Opinels.

Awesome, nice find. I really enjoy digging up the earlier works of some of the more well-known modern makers, as they often had more of a penchant for the traditional than most would expect.

That is awesome and it makes sense as to why the sebenza is such a wonderful no nonsense knife with nice thin grinds. I would love to own one of them.

Yeah. I'm tempted to buy an Opinel so I can mod it into something like this.

I've got an Opinel Ebauche sitting at mt desk and that is giving me ideas. Cool knife.

I would love to see a line of traditionals produced with the quality and availability of a CRK product.

If only. Be careful what you wish for though, such knives would likely command custom prices. Look at how much the Case/Bose annual collaborations cost.

Yeah, that would be a problem.... My CRK addiction is bad enough as is - if they start making traditionals, my credit card would be on fire from swiping so much! The fit & finish would surely be amazing though.

A HUGE draw to the traditionals is the fact I can buy 6 to 10 GEC's or Case's, for the price of just one CRK.

That is a price I would be willing to pay. I would gladly pay $400 for a stainless, integral bolster lockback styled along the lines of a GEC #42 complete with stag covers and D2 blade with the tolerances and quality of CRK. Off the shelf without waiting, sign me up!

Go for it, Christian! Im sure you would do a heck of a job!

My modded opines are among my absolute favorite knives. Stock opinel? Not so much.

Christian - go ahead and buy one of the Ebauche Opinels and shape the handle yourself. I was able to do it using only my Father In-laws belt sander, fine sandpapers, and linseed oil. Came out very nice. If I can do it using only 1-arm/hand most anyone can.

Thank you for posting that knife, Christian. I saw it in the CRK forum a while back and tried to find out more about it. Not much information about the helix. I will keep looking.

I knew that CRK made a twist lock style knife but never saw one so beautiful. Wow! I asked I. The CRK forum if they would live to see slipjoints made by CRK. The tooling etc would be wild. But imagine, a traditional Insingo with the tolerances of a custom slip. Bone or wood scales . Maybe CRK could go the whole micarta covers route custom makers seem to favor for working blades.

Interesting, certainly not your run of the mill CRK. I do like it, and could see it having a good bit of appeal to people in this forum if ever produced again.
