Greetings,

I walked into one of my local Benchmade dealers last week and lo and behold, there sat a BM 732 with a SATIN plain edge blade, new in the box. Everything was perfect on this specimen, and it came home with me.

I learned that only a few distributors got this non-catalogued item. I have always preferred satin blades on the Ares, and thought they could not be had. My fortunate mistake.

Green and black scales. That's a really good-looking knife with the satin blade!

The red & black was the 730. The Green and black was the 735. The all black is the 732.

I had one of the 732 models for over a year before it became a full production knife. I also have a 732HS, which only a handful were made. I have the 730S KOTM which had black handles, and a partially serrated blade. I have yet to see a 732 with plain satin edge though. Nice find.

I have the red & black Ares with a PE satin blade. It's a nice piece.

Patryn nailed down the scale colors of the 730, 735, and 732. I have always liked the green/black 735, and have one in satin, partially serrated. It is my smoothest Axis to date. This 732 is a beauty. All fit and finish is flawless. The blade is perfectly centered, and there is no handle flex, which can sometimes be found on the skeletonized liner models of the larger handled BM's. This blade appears stonewashed and perhaps tumbler polished with no tool marks and a smoother texture than my new model 710 in 154CM.

I would love to have this knife in M2 or D2. May stumble on one of those one of these days. I had just bought a 735BT recently. When I found this new 732, I moved the 735BT to a friend in need.

If anyone gets the inside scoop on how many of these 732 satin models were put out, it would be interesting to know.

Thanks,

Dang, I can't read:( It says 732 right there, but all I saw was 735 for some reason. I gave someone a link to hooked on phonics the other day being mean. Maybe I'll check it out myself...
For some reason the 730 never grew on me, and neither did the CF version, but I always thought the green/black and solid black G-10 ones were nice. I haven't seen a 732 with satin blade anywhere(now that I've figured out it's a 732 we're talking about:o). Cool knife, either way.
