One of the guys on a kayak forum. Posted this new product to keep things dry while out on the water.
The guys on the kayak forum testing it already to see how long it lasts and if metal parts stay dry and not rust. Also how it effects cloths and one guy wants to see if the kayak would go faster when the hull is sprayed with it. But I had all those ideas come to mind about how we can use that in the outdoors. Cloths that don't get wet in the rain. To keep things dry in the pack. Tents, Tarps you name it. For me it would be my fishing reels to keep the salt water off them.

Already called my local store. It's in stock. $19.90-something for the 2 can kit. I'll have my work shoes sprayed with this in a few days. I work in a lot of human blood, urine, & feces. Regular camp spray only lasts about a week.

Sweet!--thanks for the heads up...definitely looks like its worth a try...

Great suggestion& heads up-thank you.

I would keep you boys posted about how well it works.. Like I mentioned the kayak guys are all over it. Most common question is how long does it last. We already know that windshield and glasses are a no go.. It leaves a hazy film ... Some guys already posted putting in cloths and reels and they are going to hit the water this weekend and would post results...
Hey Jason are you having wet dreams again... next time just sleep naked and change the sheets more often..

Okay, seriously... take my money. I'm going to my local Lowe's Hardware tomorrow to get some of this to use on my work boots etc. I'll keep you posted on how well this stuff works.

I see they are coming out with waterproof down products now which will be very cool.

Can you guess the first commercial product that it was used on?

I posted on it a while ago but the prices have come down since then. I don't know anyone who has used it though.

I have thought about it on boats but was not sure on the coverage and durability. On other products I am not sure about the safety. I know the company that sells it also sold a full painters get up with it (body suit, googles, mask, and gloves) so I would be careful applying it. I read some pdf about the safety and, well, honestly I did not understand it. I did seem to take away not to use it on stuff for food prep but that may have just been there was not enough testing on it.

It was a plunger by the way

Well obviously I should have read that article before posting. Not the first time I look like an idiot, and it will definitely will not be the last

I remember when they came up with this stuff a couple years ago. At the time they weren't partnered up with rustoleum but they did the same sort of test, chocolate syrup and mustard on a pair or white Keds.

Now that it's finally out I'm gonna have to try it.

I wonder how long it would last on say a pair of pants, could spray a pair for a trip and negate the need of packing a pair of rain pants.

Well got some input from the kayak guys. It works great when first applied. BUT it don't last for long. The report is that it didn't last the day on the water when applied to cloths. won't last on many other things under heavy use..
