Well, as life goes I'm flat broke, ok, not quite, bills are met and there is roof over my head, so life is good. I find myself at a small dilemma, I have 1k posts on the forum, and I've learned a great deal, but I have little in the way of bushcrafty knives to give away, keep your paws off my RC-3 and git yer own!

Having to take a different path, I looked at what I have lots of, or can get lots of that others might not have a chance to, and since a lot of the posters here are urbanites (not your fault guys, I feel your pain) and I have a nice big firepit, I whipped up a batch of nice thick denim char-cloth! I've got a couple little bundles, enough to show you what it's all about if you haven't tried it yet and were wondering what all the fuss is about.
So here are the rules.
1. You must be a contributing member of the WSS forum, even if all you contribute is questions, those are good to.
2. you must live in North America (Sorry to every one else, maybe when I get to Oz I'll send some more)
3. you must want some char-cloth, and have either never used it before, or have a good reason why you cannot make it yourself (ie, saw it done once in scouts many years ago and now you live in an apartment and only get out for short weekends) I'm pretty easy on this one. When I see an entry I like, I'll contact you for your address, and when when I run out, I'll shut it down.

Thanks folks!

I don't need any char cloth, but wanted to say thank you for your generosity!

Very thoughtful of you. I can make char-cloth, but have never tried denim. Does denim work well?

I live in the burbs and in a HOA =[ and the last time I had any type of fire going I had the police called on me. Sure I could probably do this in the garage, but I had neighbors call the police on me for staining my deck. Apparently the smell bothered their dog. Im pretty new to Bladforums and WSS in general. But Im getting so much info I'm hooked. And Id love the chance to use some char cloth the next time I get out! I'll add it to my ever changing PSK and B.O.B!

Lost in the urban jungle presently, and have never used char cloth before. I would like to be included, thank you.

I don't need any either, but wanted to say thanks for the kind offer.
So is this the tradition here on BF,a 1000 post giveaway?
Just need to know cus I'll be there soon enough.:)

thanks for posting a giveaway. Your generosity is appreciated.

I've never tried char cloth...well i once tried to char a few cotton balls, with mediocre results. Since then i moved to a condo without a fireplace...Pretty sure the board would object if i dug myself a firepit, or kindled a nice blaze in the parking lot.... So it kinda halted my experiments in that direction. :D

please do not include me in yr give-away.
but i did want to thank you for your generous offer to those who have no means to make char cloth
im sorta looking forward to the 1000th post give-away
i got a sweet little item just sitting on my desk awaitin for you guys
thanks!!!

Congrats on the milestone, I don't need any char cloth so please don't include me. I had never thought that others might not be able to make char cloth. Guess I take it for granted, but then again Ihave made it on my gas grill before.

And Denim is my favorite as well.

Wow, lots of entries so far! I'm off to a buddies stag party today, so I will begin the selections tomorrow. But if you haven't entered, you still have time
For those that are wondering, I've done a few tests, using tee-shirt, tea-towel and denim, due to it's density, denim seems to be the most effective.

I live in the city, so no fire pit. Last week or so my mini mag light died and now I was going to make a fire piston out of it. With that need some char cloth, since I cant make that hear I have delayed the project slightly. Either way eventually I should be able to make some.

Very cool! I'm just getting in to backpacking and I think these would be great. I currently carry regular old boring cotton balls.
