I've had this one for a little while now, but haven't posted pictures of it before due to varying reasons.

Looks like a relatively normal 806, but without the BT coating, right? Well, notice for one that the logo is still there.

Here's where it gets interesting. :D

Yup, and 806HS. M2 steel, and uncoated to boot! I can say that I keep it well oiled for sure. This is the way the 806 should look.

So, you like? :D :D

One of the major turnoffs for me about the 806(d2 model) is that black coating. I hate the whole tactical black look. I understand it is there to prevent the "semi-stainless" D2 from rusting, but I would rather just oil the blade myself. Beautiful knife you have there!:)

Where!? How!? Me want!!!

Sorry...I've been hoping for an uncoated 806 for a long time, and I never knew that they were out there.

NICE!! I want one. We should all send Benchmade an e-mail with that pic as an attachment and say BUILD IT !

It should become a production knife (un-coated AFCK)). They should also get the Mini-AFCK avalaible with the AXIS lock (IN UNCOATED AS WELL!)

Yes it is. the only reason I do not have one is because they do not look like that. When they offer a satin version I will buy one.

i've emailed BM before in regards to an uncoated 806D2 axis and they replied that they don't forsee doing that in the near future. I'd get a mini afck D2/M2 uncoated axis in a heartbeat.

I started out disliking the BT2 coating on my 806D2, but now I've grown to like it. It makes the blade less noticeable and also makes it appear to be smaller. Then the rust-prevention has worked great. I've never had a spot of rust on the blade, not even with daily carry and occasional soaking in rain-drenched pockets. I can't even remember the last time I wiped it down with Tuf-Cloth.

Sure, it looks like crap when the coating is coming off in places, but to me the plus side of the tradeoff is worth it.

Does the opening hole on the prototype have bevelled sides like on the production knife? I see that they've also changed the grind near the choil area on the production knife. It's a much cleaner end now.
