Here is a special order Gelbu Special for my old pal, Floyd O'leary who has had this on order for about 3 months. He wanted a Gelbu Special with a carved wood handle and this is what he got in spades.

Length is 19 inches and weight is two pounds. The knife is flawless. Fit and finish perfect. Hardness excellent. Carving of the handle is the best I have seen come out of any shop in Nepal and is equal to the carving done by the Newaris who are world famous for their carving. I don't know which kami did this carving but I am going to find out and he is going to become our carver for future projects. This guy is very, very good. Karda and chakma are 7 + inches and excellently done. Scabbard is excellent and is equipped with HI superfrog. Overall rating 10 out of 10.

This is the only one we got but we can make more. If interested call or email.

Bill,

HI kami's are coming up with more and more interesting stuff. Some of these are one of kind, creative whims. But they make darn good collectors items.

Sigh, I just realize I could buy a HI a week and still feel there are more to get...

Uncle Bill, this is definitely an exceptional khuk and I, for one, would like to own one, so you can put my name on the list. By the way, what's the cost?

Can horn be carved like this, Uncle Bill? This would make my custom idea a real collector.

Dido Bill, I would love to add this one to my collection, but need to work on clearing up the backlog of orders I have already placed with you.

I have been late responding to the receipt of this marvelous knife. The carving is out standing, and was probably done with a tool that the Kami made for him self. The knife is 18.50" long, with a 12.75" blade. At the handle the blade is .520 thick, and gets thicker until the break for the forward part of the blade. At this juncture the knife measures .635 " . It tapers to the fuller, and the ends of the fuller are the starting points for the taper to the point, at .335".
Blade width is 1.875 " , with the fuller at 1.250", to make a proper weight of 2.00 lbs.
This is the best piece I have seen come from H/I , and shows the constant progress of shop 2 and the visting Kami Program. This rates as a collectors piece, with out any reservation. My many thanks to Bill. the Kamis, and all who made this possible.

Thanks for report, Floyd.

For those who may not know, Floyd is a long time collector and if the offering does not suit him he returns it. When I sent him this Gelbu Special I din't think I'd see it again and for a change I was right.

Beautiful Gelbu Special Uncle! I really like the G.S. you sent me. I was wondering who made the one that I have. There are no marking on the blade from the Kamis. Thanks in advance,

Not sure which kami made this one. But with the new marking system we should know in the future.

I have a pix of the Newari fellow who carved this handle which I'll post if I can get photopoint to working again.
