First off I'm proud to announce, as of 21:03 1/11/02 my wife gave birth to our very healthy 9 pound 4 ounce baby boy! In starting a tradition, I tracked down a NIB Large Classic that was made the same day Gregory was concieved. I got permission from the hospital to have the Sebenza used to "cut the cord" as long as it was autoclaved(sp) first. (I know I know it killed the heat treat)I am having his initials,DOB,Time of birth, and a small inscription engraved on the handle. On Gregory's 12th birthday it will be given to him and will be a keepsake not a user. I hope to do the same with my next two children I hope to have.

Just thought I'd share

Greg

Very nice tradition to start.
It could get exspensive after 12 or 13 though :)

PS. I dought if the autoclave will change the temper.

Congrats to you and your wife Greg. Man, and I thought I had an obsession on the Sebenza! I'd be curious about the heat treat being ruined as well. I just let my wife read this post and she asked me if this is what I would do with our first child? You may have started something here.

Congrats :)

Interesting, would autoclave kill the heat treat? What it the temp. in there?

Thanks guys!
I wasn't sure the autoclave would hurt the knife or not. the Doctor who Oked it said it might and I had to sign a waver to have it used.
It's never gonna be used anyway so I'm not worried either way.

My GUESS would be no...
I hope someone who really knows the answer will chime in here though. ;)
Just so we will know. :D
