It's called the SOG Vino and it's a waiter's wine tool extraordinaire. It includes a traditional corkscrew and blade designed to cut corks and wrappers all wrapped up in a stainless steel handle of beautiful design and quality. I got enough of a kick out of it that I put one into my knife collection immediately. Though you might get a kick out of it too. Take care.

Having been a waiter for 5 years prior to becoming DaWebmeister around here, I was pretty intrigued when we got our first batch of these...

It's a cool little device, a lot more ergonomic than the Leatherman Flair, and pretty stylish to boot. A pretty good device for any yuppie... I'd add one to my collection if I drank wine, so I'll emphatically agree with Fred - this one is definately a keeper.

Now we need the tactical version, in Black-T with an auto-opening corkscrew that pops out into the reverse for that "+5 damage effect"...

As one who likes a good Shiraz or Chardonnay, this looks like a good excuse to do some serious field testing.

How about pliers for those tight screw-on caps? And a little hook for those "whine in a box" bungs?

How much does this baby run?

I'm surprised you haven't all seen these items around. I've always known them as 'Waiter's Friends'. All wine waiters use them as far as I know. I have a couple in my kitchen drawer. One plastic bodied, one cheapo stainless.

Laguiole makes a nice one too with black horn handles and their little bee behind the blade. About $100 though! I like the look of the SOG version though.

Rats! I don't seem to be able to post the picture but the <a href="http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=852156&a=6197744&p=21110364">link</a> works!

This style of corck puller is the easyest and best way to open a bottle of wine. I am always surprized to see so many people not know how to use these. I keep one in the car, boat, and have a few more at home. I almost am a collector of these because I like them really more than wine. But useing them alot sure makes the wife happier.

Hi,

We just started shipping the SOG Vino a couple of weeks ago. The retail price is $49.95.

If there are questions or input on this model, come visit the SOG forum and ask away. Otherwise, keep the posts coming and let us know what you think.

All it needs is the crumb-scraper-off-the-table thingy and it would be complete. I can't believe they didn't include that.
