A Walk To The Creek

Decided to take a couple mile walk on the trail that goes to Hickory Creek today.

Here is the start of the path.

Some wildflowers. Anybody know what they are?

By the creek

I was telling my wife that I was surprised that no turtles were on the logs. I turned to look at her and she was pointing at this. I don`t know if it`s a water moccasin or what? It was pretty darn big, and I don`t like snakes!

Here it is, straightening out. We got out of there quick!

Nasty looking snake..Is that real water? running in summer?? Calif is a little dry this time of year.

Patrick is right about the water situation in CA. We are going to backpack in a nice area this weekend with actual water in the Angeles National Forest.

I think that snake is a "northern water snake" which can be dark like that guy is. Take a peek at the description and pictures here.

Ever since I had one crawl up my leg when I was about 8 years old I`ve had this phobia about them. Only had Maggie with us today.

He bear where are you going, I was looking at Angeles but I am going to Padres, Sespe Creek at Piedras Blancas on Friday, should be water still running, we will see. We take the dogs and they really need to cool off.

I was in the sierrias 2 weeks ago and tons of water, looked like spring. Not like so cal.
