Maisy over did it yesterday and was super stiff last night so I left her at home and just took the tiny terror today !

Snicker looks all cocky when it's just me and her, think it makes her feel special :D

Nothing but blue skies today !

Anyway I got to thinking about which knives I actually use the most. I remembered years ago reading an article by a writer for a British hiking mag called TGO ( The great outdoors ), he did a lot of long distance trail walking and Munro bagging ( Google it ! ). This was one of those guys that drilled holes in his gear and cut his toothbrush in half, anything to save weight ! What stuck in my mind was what he said about a knife. He carried a Vic Classic and said that he hardly needed that as all he used it for was opening his food packets and cutting his nails ( Lets remember that wild fires are a big no no in the UK ). When it comes down to it my most common tasks are opening parcels, cleaning/cutting my nails and maybe opening a bottle of beer.......for these reasons my most used knife is my Vic Classic, a Rambler I think it's called, that and my GAK are used or carried every day. If I was making fires etc then obviously it would be a different type of knife.

Which knives do you use the most ?

3 knives are currently tied for that spot for me. I use my DPx Heat, Sodbuster in 01, and USK from JK Knives, semi wharncliffe model in 01.

They all make short work of the cardboard that attacks me on a regular basis. It is even the tough double layered stuff too! :D

Edit: You have some Great looking areas up by you.
Keep the photos coming!

Thanks buddy.

Great topic idea!

Sorry to be a picture-less wanker.....

I have to say my SAK "Huntsman" is my most used knife. While I do carry 3 knives daily, only one is in my pocket and that's the Huntsman. My other two are 1) my Breeden custom and 2) a Mora Companion - both in my EDC pack (which I carry pretty much everywhere). As soon as I make a sheath for it, my new EnZo Trapper will replace the Mora.

I use my Huntsman for all the standard small-knife things like opening packages, birdseed/dog food bags, etc. My Breeden gets used on everything larger than that! I've not really used my Mora that much (considering how amazing my Breeden knife is!). I suspect the EnZo will begin to handle more of the tasks that are beyond what I'd prefer to use the Huntsman for.

My most used are my Victorinox Classic on my keyring, I have also been carrying a Benchmade Mini-Grip everyday since Christmas. The pair do a pretty good job of covering my edc needs. I also usually carry a traditional slip-joint because I like them so much. Lately I have been on a GEC 53 kick.

My most used knife is(are?) the Delica 4. I've been carrying a standard VG-10 saber-grind for four or five years now. Yes, there have been breaks in there where I've carried much cooler knives. But, the Delica 4 is everything I need for day to day tasks. I could quite easily have gone the rest of my life carrying that. But, my brother surprised me with a FFG model for Christmas, I've been so wanting one since they came out some time ago, and not only that but some nice ZDP steel. They open packages, process down cardboard, do all the little fiddly things I need in a day. Stay sharp quite well (the saber-grind was no slouch but the FFG is a bloody slice-o-matic.) The only thing I see possibly replacing the light, sharp, small, but not too small, EDC is perhaps one of the fancy limited runs that Spyderco does. But, even then, how much more can be improved on this knife?

SAK electrician without a doubt. It's funny to see all the guys who collect knives pull out hinerers, sebenzas, and ZT's. Then you come in here where the outdoors people hang out and it's sak, sak, sak, delica...:D

Which has me thinking, is it time for me to try a SAK again. I haven't touched one since I was about six or seven. My problem has always been finding one that's the right size and with the tools I'll actually use.

Delicas are great. Before I started carrying the Mini-Grip I had been using one. I'm sure I will again at some point or will at least start rotating it in again.

The only thing I can fault on the SAK is the soft steel. I'd like to hold it's edge a bit longer. Otherwise they're great.

The grips aren't bad though. They're one of the few knives that have decent handles. Not just two flat slabs that have the barest of rounding on the edges. That's why I'm tending toward slippies to be honest. The handles are just better somehow. People friendly too when you want to do a bit of whittlin' around non-knife people.

Like most here I bring more to the woods then I need.
What I feel I need or what I feel comfortable with should the day go bad is my BK11 or similar, I really like knives this size.
Also a multi tool with saw /my Vic farmer.

That's easy, Victorinox Pioneer and Mora Classic #1

At first it was hard to admit that cheap common knives were all I needed but with time I've grown comfortable with it. I've been through a lot over the past 5+ years with the Mora, and the Pioneer is becoming rather indispensable.

I like your Nessmuk trio there Hacked. I got me a little SA Wetterlings 10" that I love dearly. It massively outperforms expectations. If I ever get around to a proper sheath my little Kellam Aito Puukko is perhaps my favorite fixed, in close competition with my MLK Kephart.

Thanks, its about a pound overall, the goal was to see how light I could really get it. The hatchet took a decent amount of work to profile it too the point where it bite into the wood, but now it is surprisingly effective for a 12 Oz hatchet.

Matt makes some amazing looking knives, and is a really nice guy as well.

Is that the Vaughn sub 0 or "sounding hatchet?"

You did some nice work there. Re-profiling was a total pain the one time I did it. But if you got the necessary shape/edge to get the bit to bite real nice, you can do a lot with a small ax/hatchet. I don't regret the time I spent on my cheap little Boys Ax.

I tend to use small knives primarily when I am just out of town, like a Companion H.D. or quite often an Izula 2. My appreciation and desire for my Izula's has never faded. Small and tough. Otherwise I walk with a Leatherman multi or SAK. I have that "Soldier" version also and I like it. There are also many days when all I have in my chest pocket is a fero rod and an Opinel.

I think my most-used knife is my '97 model Wenger Soldier's knife.

For EDC? Really whatevers in my pocket but my Leatherman Surge gets used quite a bit since it always seems to have what I need (especially those handy bit sets)

For woods? ESEE Junglas. I do a lot of scouting for friends/family for hunting, setting up hunting spots etc. Wish I actually had time to hunt myself, unfortunately, lack of state land and school gets in the way come deer season.
