I took the twins for a quick walk in the woods across from the house, it was a very nice day for it but it was getting dark fast.

Thanks for Looking !!!:)

The one with the big leaves in prairie doc I believe. Not edible, but those giant leaves would be good for shelter or thinking about Normark's thread - making a goofy green hat.

Great profile on that koyote blade! Reminds me of my farmer one. Love the scorched osage too!

CD,

Looks like a great walk with your boys. That Koyote is a good looking blade!

Cool! The osage is starting to get it's loved look, too. Favorite thing about it is watching it age :D

How's the handle working out, shape wise?

Great plant pics! I finally got me a Koyote knife not too long ago and I am impressed with both the edge geometry and Christof's attention to ergonomics while still getting some cool looking designs.

Cute kids but I wouldn't want to mess with Mr. Serious :D.

Ah Crap! My post came in after his, now I look like I'm sucking up! :o

HAHAHA! I was meaning to ask you about yours, too. I try to balance edge holding with sharpenability....

Great pics.Always great to spend time with the kids in the woods. Looking forward to having grandkids get to the age to teach them.

Mike

Great setup and great hiking buddies! Thanks a bunch for sharing the pics with us!! That koyote looks like a great woods companion.

I've taken it on a couple of dayhikes and done some fuzzies. The length is not totally legal to carry in CT. So far I like this steel, of which I am not too familiar, and what you've done with it. I plan on taking it to Scott Gossman's camping trip next weekend

One of the Best all-around handles I've ever held ! I think it is very comfortable !

Cool pics C.D., and the handle on that knife looks pretty comfy. Some tinders flash really too quick to serve very well as a "stand-alone" tinder. Try mixing some of that with some heavier material like crumbled dead leaves or very thin slivers of dry dead wood.

Yep...it's alot like using cattail for tinder, it lights super fast & easy. I usually shave up some Fatwood & make a dry grass birdsnest & put the "fuzz" from either the cattail or the milkweed inside the birds nest before I strike it. I was just playing around w/ my fire steel, showing the twins how it works ;)
Thanks for the info. 'Ol Bud

Sorry bro :o , I've just seen people work themselves to death trying to get fire with what I call "flash-tinders" and thought I'd throw that out there.
