Went to a small local park that used to be an old quarry yesterday. The wilderness had really taken this place back, so much greenery covered the rocks that it appeared almost jungle like !

Looked like someone had been thinking about building a lean to here at some point !

Lots of lush grass with wild edibles such as Dandelions, Plantain, Miners Lettuce and Dead Nettles to name but a few !

Anyway the knife I took today was my very first custom, made by John of JK Knives this knife is one I'll never part with. Despite collecting numerous knives after this I could quite easily have saved my money and been content with just this one. For sure some might perform specific tasks slightly better but it's nitpicking, you could easily take this on any adventure as your main fixed blade and never find yourself wanting for anything.

That is a Great looking area. It looks like it would make for an ideal camping spot, where that lean to was being built. Have you spent the night in there?

John makes some great knives, doesn't he? I love my USK and I'm in the process of drawing up my next purchase.

All your posts take me way back ... I lived a summer on the island, camping south to north and back, inhaling my surroundings, sleeping on the ground, learning where peace can abide.

I get it. Thanks pitdog, for the memories :)

Knife looks great and glad you like it. Old quarries are interesting. They can be snakee, but I imagine in your area, snakes aren't such a big issue. I find it interesting poking around these kinds of places looking at old stuff that remains.
