If you are on the fence about buying one of these, but have never handled one, DON'T DO IT, money will spontaneously fly out of your pocket! Today a buddy of mine whom I haven't seen in a while came into town. He is a knife nut like me, but deals with (buys and sells) higher end customs (and by higher end I mean $2,000 - $15,000 knives). I get to talking with him about recent acquisitions when he pulls out a STRIDER SNG with with a desert camo blade. I oggle over the knife for the whole car ride up to a place called Outlaw Cigar, which is basically a man's paradise (cigars, guns on the wall, and a large collection of high end knives, and a calendar girl was even there smoking a cigar). They have about 8 large Sebenzas in display case. I asked to handle one and was  by the way it felt. I now understand what the hubub about both of those knives is (Strider and Sebenza). They are just pieces of glory.

I know have decided I'm going to have to save my money for an Unumzaan.

So you are saying don't buy a sebenza or a strider and buy an Umnumzzan instead?

Your post is a bit confusing. But it sounds like you understand the following behind the Sebenza and Strider crowd?

Notice my title says CRK. The quality of a Sebenza is indicative of the quality of CRK knives. I'm basically just saying that I now understand why these knives have such a following.

Well I don't know, but the way I read that, I think he was saying you should buy a Randall instead. :D

Got it! CRK does make good stuff. Enjoy that Umnum when you get it!:p

I have never handled a CRK but be aware that the unnumzaan (sp?) Does not have the pivot bushing (is that the right term?) That the sebenza has. I don't know but this could possibly mean it isn't as smooth as the sebenza and that you can't crank down on the pivot screw and it still be smooth and not get tighter like most knives. Just thought I would throw that out since it might change the smoothness.

Interesting. That is partially why I liked the Sebenza so much. Can anyone comment on that aspect of the Umnumzaan?

I have strider and the sebe and have played with the umanzan. I went with the sebe. It just looks more classy and I thought the frame lock on it was much smoother.

Not to criticize them, but I was a little disappointed the first time I got to look at one...
I guess with all the hype and cult like following, I expected something magical to happen when I held it..
It is nicely made, and was very smooth. However, that was really where it ended for me. Just couldn't see spendin 300 + on one.
I know I'm in the minority though

Welcome to the club. CRK are outstanding knives and a notch above most production knives. However, for me it's a question of aesthetics: in that price range I can have a wh or a custom knife made to my taste. Nonetheless, if there was a CRK that satisfied my eye I would buy it in a New York minute.

I had one about 5 min and did the package up and sent it back. Nice knife, but I was a bit underwhelmed for 400 dollars.
