A week of first's

This has been an absolute week of first's. Sending my first "thread" ever, my first ESEE firestarting kit, my first ESEE knife (a Junglas), my first of many to come conversations with Jim @ Howe Knives (75 mins. no less, excellent cost & service, received the knife in 2 days), and am asking my first question on a forum. Now that the Junglas has found a new home here in Ohio, which one model (or model's) would some of you seasoned veterans of the ESEE knives suggest as companions ?
All suggestions welcomed as I am very impressed with this knife which has felled a few saplings and some other odds & ends on our property already.
Camping, fishing, & hunting will be the main uses.
Since this is my first "thread", I hope there is nothing above that violates any rules or toes. I will have to get acquainted with the "tag's", the "sticky's", the "post's", the "thread's", etc. I have really enjoyed reading all of the comments on this forum. I have especially enjoyed all the pictures of the outdoors that have been posted since this old farm boy is stuck living & working in the suburbs most of the time.
I hope for a first time post this is ok, please let me know on the knife model choices, and thanks to ESEE for making one super knife.

Welcome and congrats on your Junglas - it's a great way to start.
Not that many here would say there's a bad way to get to know ESEE stuff. :)

You could go to the other end of the spectrum and get the Izula????
It's a TON of utility in a package you never have to be without....

The HEST, for sure! I think the RC3 and RC4 come short as far as ergonomics-the HEST is an AMAZING knife, the most ergo, and in my opinion the best blade profile of any companion knife I own. The HEST has taken the roles of most 4 to 6 inch knives I own because it's so handy and capable, though it's much smaller.

Just buy all the other models. If you get hooked like I did, that's what you'll end up doing anyway!

Welcome to the forum.

hi and welcome, i'd add the hest and the 6, both are excellent field and camp knives. the hest is a great everyday knife as well.

take it easy

Welcome! I'd say a 4 and Izula. Then if needed you can fill in the in between sizes like a 6, 3 or HEST.

The Izula is a fantastic knfie. I EDC mine every day. You really can't go wrong with it.

I don't own any of the others but a 3 or 4 would seem to be a good fit for a all-purpose companion blade.

So i guess i agree with s7brad. ESEE-4 and Izula.

ESEERATFAN, that is exactly what happened when I bought my first Glock, & viola, my title name was born . . . Getting them in the house was the easy part, until my wife noticed the gun case seemed to be getting occupied more and more. It is probably even money all the ESEE models will soon be in the same neighborhood as my Glocks, trust me. Thanks for the "advice" . . . :)

congrats on the Junglas, I bought my first ESEE, a 5 this week and joined this forum this week also so we are both in that same boat I guess. I can already tell that my 5 is lonely and I am pretty sure in the next week I will be buying a HEST to keep it company

Robtheman, thanks for the well wishes on the Junglas. After only 3 short days of chopping & hacking on our property, I have no complaints at all. I will be calling Howe's Knife Shop tomorrow to order the Izula & the 5 to keep the Junglas company a based on all the great "recomendations" from the other ESEE addicts. Looks like ESEERATFAN was right, might as well get all the models, & then I can tell my wife once again, "Honey, JUST1MOR" . . . . :)

I just got my first ESEE this week as well and i can tell already this is gonna be a new addiction for me not that i'm complaining:D started small with the izula and the esee 4 is already on my xmas list along with a set of custom handles from knife-connection.com.

All the Esse knives feel okay to me. There's little things I don't like about the smaller ones but I still like them all. But the Junglas feels so good in your hand it's hard to hold another :). I would get an Izula 2 for sure. Hest is nice also. If you don't like the prybar grind it off.It has decent grip and blade
