Went up to Cave Mountain Lake Friday evening and spent two nights there. Didn't really do much just relaxed, but my uncle and I went to look for mushrooms.

I just love seeing moss, looks pretty good on this old wood bench.

Chickens of Woods a bit too far gone and...

... a bit to young, maybe in a week or two.

Old beaver chew, but the forest service cut it down before the beaver was done.

Rotting Jack O' Lanterns, this one was about the size of my hand.

It's much harder to find the good ones when the forest floor is covered in leaves.

Found some Hen of the Woods while I was walking on top of a huge downed oak.

My Buck 119 on a 10lb patch of water logged Chicken

Svord on top of Hen

All and all it was a pretty good score, found a little bit of good Chicken, plenty of Puff Balls, and my first Hen

I know next to nothing about gathering 'shrooms/fungi in the wild...thanks for sharing!

Nice score, and nice photos. I was up there hiking for 3.5 days a few weeks ago now, and ran across some bright new chicken, north of Fulhardt knob but south of Curry Creek - left side of the trail heading north.

u.w.

It's good to know your mushroom . I have no idea what's what when it comes to wild edibles .

Great pictures, thanks for sharing. I wish I knew enough about wild mushrooms to feel confident to collect and eat them.
