I was taking some pictures of my latest addition (to the Mammoth Sebenza Collection) and I noticed they changed the grind around the lock bar. I love how it feels, much more comfortable if you have big thumps like me.

Here's the group shot.

The new thump grove on the small sebenza makes it easier to work the lock bar (if you have big thumps), it doesn't make that much of a difference on a large but with a small, it's a huge difference . If I'm not mistaken it's the same grind as the classic sebenza's.

Dennis aka drh has a bunch of the newer smalls and the new grind just looks awesome in the pictures.

That is a great looking mammoth collection. I am looking for a mammoth bark with character like your latest but a large.

I just checked my first, and only, small Sebenza and it has the same relief around the cut out. I didn't even realize it was a change. When did it start?

So the top is the new grind right? Definltely looks like a classic, always preferred that cutout over the 21.

I just checked all my small 21s and all but one have this "new" grind. The one with the old grind ... though born on 4/30/12 .... was assembled with scales stamped B09 on the lock bar cut-out side and B10 on the lock bar side. The earliest actual birth date I have on my small 21s is 2/27/12 with scales (both) stamped C11. The oldest stampings I have on new grind smalls is C11. So, your guess is as good as mine as to when the change took place .... I certainly didn't notice it until your post! But, it had to have happened sometime between 2009 and 2011.

And by the way ..... I am probably the odd man out when it comes to going gaga over Mammoth bark (has to have a special look that, for reasons unknown, catches my eye) .... but in the case of these ones ... like each and every one of them!!!!! They possess special character that just gets my juices a flowin'!

Love that top bark Dino!

I remember when it was listed for sale at the dealer. I went back and forth with it and ended up with this one (listed at the same time).

Here are some wild flashlight colors ...
