Here is what ive been clearing the Bamboo from around the house with. REALLY fun to cut with, and seen some action overseas too.... Early Jimmy Fikes "JUNGLE HONEY" One side forged/chisel ground long before it was "cool" :)

Hi All, i also want to add that Jimmy didnt do the wrap on this handle, It was done by the "operator" that used it overseas. I was going to bug Jimmy to re wrap it, but i kinda like it as is. Heck i was going to polish the bevels and blast/brown the flats, but im lilking the well used look as it is.

Joss, the piece of steel in the background is one of many odd pieces in the yard... you should see some of the other stuff.

The ancient rusted Jimmy is due for another visit to the back specialist and a pain management clinic tomorrow morning. He's spending his time either walking / riding an exercise bike or flat on his aching back on the floor with his feet elevated. He's decided that if the two high-priced quacks tomorrow are of no help, he's going to start raising poppies and smoking a long skinny-stemmed pipe. :grumpy:

Knife work of any sort has stopped for now according to the ancient rusting Jimmy, but this doesn't mean that he's forgotten who gets which knife. They'll just be shipped (or made and shipped) later (Doug and Flavius and Hans and John and... and... I forget). Later. That's why his name is Jimmy L. (for Later, of course) Fikes.

I'm going to have to stop referring to myself in the third person or you guys will begin to think I'm as crazy as Lamey. And neither Matt nor I would want that.:D

The piece of rusted metal referred to above is an abandoned / unfinished piece of sculpture. Once I'm up and about again (and the shop here finally gets finished) I'm planning on devoting most of my time to doing more sculpting and oil painting. Matt can handle all necessary knifemaking. Put your name in now for paintings. Otherwise it'll be the same old story... I'll become famous and my work overpriced. Consider yerselves warned.;)

That is one of many marks that Jimmy uses. There are at least 3 sizes of this particular mark.

I believe that Dons mark is inletted, and Gold. The above mark was smacked in with a power hammer.
 
That guy Fikes is a talented SOB! Here's a sculpture that I've had for years. Put me down for a sculpture.

rootin around in the basement here at the former Cave of the ole Grump himself, I found a neat piece. I hesitate to post a pic, as Im afraid the Grump will holler at me and make me give it back. Maybe I will take and post a pic later when im not so damn cold (was in the teens last night).
