Went out to a nice little spot of mine to see what was coming up since spring is in full swing here in the NW now, lots of warm sunny days, fallowed by some cool wet ones...etc.
One thing ive been wondering about for sometime now is handles, for hawks and axes, and just how important a prefect or near prefect handle is for them.
It's all over the place people talk about prefect grain alignment, no sap wood, no knots...etc. So for this handle I chose an oak branch, with knots, with a bad grain pattern. Over all it took about 25ish minutes, time will tell me how this will hold up.
The Morels are really starting to pop up!
I believe these to be currants.
Half way done.
Not bag for primitive work if I do say so myself.
A shot of my fun items for the day.
I am so in love with my new KFU knife, my first non production blade. This thing I great!
The river is running high with snow melt and rain.
I guess this new little wetland area was made here as part of a project to help bring back the Western Pond Turtle to the area.
Once back at home I took to giving the handle a light sanding and some linseed oil, looks alright to my eyes at least, can't wait to see what a handle like this can really take.
