During the last knifeshow I attended I sold my regular carry knife.
So it was time for a new one.
I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a day with Maarten van Hattem. A Dutch smith who was willing to watch me make my first attempts at forge welding.
As a first exercise we welded C45 (mild steel) to O1 tool steel and proceded to forge it out into a billet. Thus giving me an O1 edge and a C45 spine.
I turned this billet into a wharncliffe for my daily carry. I burned a small piece of the steel near the spine of the handle because I wasn't paying enough attention. Decided to keep a piece of that showing as a beauty mark and a reminder to myself to pay more attention.
Also gave lining a sheath with deerskin a try for the first time.
Anyway
3.75" cutting edge.
O1 Edge, C45 spine.
Tapered tang with Brown Mallee burl scales, Blue polypropylene liners and Stainless Loveless bolts.
Sheath lined with deerskin.
