A "why" question about my CF Zowada

While I am not a knife designer, I can usually see the reason behind why a thing is the way it is on a good day.
The thumb hole on the Zowada is small out of necessity. I understand that.
What has me baffled is why the scallop in the scales/liner is off center in regard to the hole and why it is not deep enough to allow full access to the already diminutive hole.
Is there brilliance here that I'm just missing?
To me, it just seems to make opening it more difficult than need be.

Thanks!

I'm not sure "why" but I do agree that my CF Zowada is harder to flip open then any other Spyder that I own. Fact is -- its the ONLY Spyder that has flipped out of my hand and hit the floor !!! Combo of small hole and smooth/slick CF handle.

Is the scallop on yours off-center (toward the hinge from the hole) and a bit too shallow as well?
