As much as I like the micarta handled ESEE knives, they would also be just fine with traditonal riveted wood handles and no coating. The designs are so basic and traditional that they would fit right in with mountain man look, IMO. Sometimes I just don't feel like looking all tactical. You could call them the ESEE Basics or some such. Just an idea. Of course, leather sheaths might end up making them cost too much.

Yeah, that's the idea. Just basic knife. I have seen one gimmicky knife after another come and go, but the basic knife still rules. Our ancestors figured out what works a long time ago. All that was needed was a quality manufacturer.
 
thanks for the complements i like that rig for competition alot. for horseback and hunting i just take one holster off, really prefer crossdraw for horseback but i havnt gotten around to making the holster yet.
