Getting a chance to see in person all that was donated for the auction really touched me. Many, many thanks to all of you that donated and made bids. The auction was very much a success! Like Bruce Bump mentioned in the auction post there were a few items that just didn't make it on time to be in the first auction so I've heard there will be another. I have been so Blessed to be a part of the Knife Communnity. I decided on the way home from the show yesterday to set aside my best bowie and a tomahawk and have them ready to donate for who ever is going to need some help.

Again, Thank you all so very much!!!

PS: There was a number of fellows that had sent me packages of supplies and tools. I've already thanked them once but I want to thank them again! Guess I'd better not forget the three that got the ball rolling. Dave Larsen, Nick Wheeler, Chuck Bybee and the help from Mitch Lum and Daniel O'Malley. A special thanks to Bill with Vintage Knives for the auction that was held there. Your all just Great!

Here's a couple picture's from the forging demo at Blade West. I'm just not sure who it is but whoever it is is wearing sandles.

Ray,

You certainly can move that steel into some real nice blades, whether it be a hawk or a knife.

Thanks again to the people that made the auction happen.
I wanted to make it up there, but had to settle for being there in spirit, Ray.
Good to see pics of you whacking some steel. :)
Take care.

Ray I'm sure glad things are working out from a bad situation.. :)

but I'm not to sure about socks with sandles  :D
if they are anything but leather ,,, you can get by with it I guess... :D

When Ray was here he was forging in just farm jeans and sandles. I can't find the pic to post. I was waiting for all the hair on his back to catch on fire, it would of been a forest fire. HEHEHEHE!!!! :D

Dan, Friday I had gone without but recieved a comment from a good friends wife who is also a friend so I decided to wear them just for her. The socks actually kept me from getting any slag burns. I broke down and wore shoes on Sunday.

Rokjok, Those pictures are to good. Can you either shrik me or make the forge larger? It was good seeing you again.

Blame it on me. Just be thankful you house is still standing. BTW those are the same sandles except for the socks.

At least you didn't have to worry about your shirt catching on fire, Ray.
Man!! Can you imagine the shirt and the hair on his back on fire at the same time. Oh!!!! My!!! God!!!! It would of been like Mount St. Helen. HEHEHEHEHE!!!

Glad to help Ray!

I feel like the Bybees are the real heroes here... they did more work to make it happen than anybody.

Hopefully you'll get things rolling full bore again soon Ray! :D

That hawk is awesome! :)

Forging in sandles AND socks. This is courage!

I am on the outside here but I can see your true friends are many, you are a rich man Ray. :)

I think all of you guys that were able to give knives and such are heros also. I wasn't able to do so, but did buy a knife, plus had bought a hawk head from Ray a couple of weeks before the terrible fire. I guess I'm comfortable with what I did, but wish it would have been more. I'm very much pleased at the figures posted today, them's big bucks! BTW Ray in one of those pictures above, you're about to get first degree nipple burn! Nothing worse!

Robert, there's enough hair around those nipples to protect them from fire.

Nick, I've got something planned for Chuck. I know it won't be enough for the amount of work he put into the auction. The Bybee family is just Great!

The way I look at it, anyone with a little hair on their [?] can forge in sandles. But, you take a man who can forge a billet of damascus in sandles, with or without socks, That man has my deepest admiration. The formidable flying flux, fries feet like flaming flambue. There is a little imprompto dance people tend to do when that flaming flux wedges between their toes. It is the funniest damn thing, unless it's you doing the dancing. I hear the auction went well. Glad to here it . All the best to you Ray. Fred
