My intent when I posted the thing about the fire was to just raise caution. I am just being blow away from the many offers of help in one form or another. Hopefully today the adjuster will get out here and I can start picking things up and find out what I have left to salvage. My knife steel should be fine if I can find it all as well as the wrought iron. The anvils didn't do to bad and my forges still look usable.

I've had offers from people I never even heard of. You guys have been a real Blessing to me.

Thank You very much........... Ray

Ray, the best point that you can make is not showing us how to heat treat a blade in a few tons of burning hay. Just had to say it, because anyone that forges with sandals on is just right.  And you know if I lived closer I would be the first one over there to smack you in the head and help you out to the extent of my means. ;)

IG, You make me feel better. I've been out off and on today trying to see what I can find. For the most part the knife steel I've been finding is a twisted bent mess. Now thats just the stuff I can find. I found a few piece of various stag that didn't burn. Its wet. I can only stay out so long and then I feel like I'm going to puke cause it pisses me off so bad. I don't especially care to much for the long drive down south but getting away for a few days might be the ticket even if its to go to a funeral.

You should come to the east coast and we can have another party again. Just leave your sandal at home. :D :D I got to make a run to find more WI so come on down. :D

IG, I've got a lifetime supply when I was out last year. The fire didn't bother it much although something else melted on it. Nice thing about the anchor chain is I have no problem identifying it.
