Now,I HAD planned to get some action shots of it working but my Llama had other plans.I had my camera and pod all setup to take some shots of me batoning it when he noticed the wrist lanyard on my camera and decided to take it.
So far I've been impressed with how well it performs. It feels like one solid knife.it cuts everything really well I'm going to take it out and play some today and let you all know how it works.

I have one too with stag handle scales, I was thinking of getting another with rosewood, they certainly are very well made, robust, take a very good edge and hold it for a long time, the steel is O1 if I'm not mistaken 4mm thick, 4'' cutting edge, the sheath I got with mine though seemed a little sturdier... but great bushlore look a like! congrats!

nice bushcrafters you have there

what's the book in the background of the first pic?

I have the same model..for about 2 years now...great knife. It does hold a serious edge. I have some scale shrinkage...but not bad. I oil the handle alot, and that seems to help. I recieved a sheath with mine, but it fit other knives I owned better. So I slipped it into a Sharpshooter sheath off of one of my Barkies...worked much better. Looks like you have done the same.

I re-sheathed mine too.The sheath in the pic is a sharpshooter sheath that came with my Bark River Fox River.
The book is "The Survival Handbook:Essential skills for outdoor adventures" written by Colin Towell. One of the best survival books I've ever read.

Nice knife. Can you order one with the grind a little further towardsthe blade?

I find Colin Towell's work to be a little dry :o

I actually just reground the blade with the edge all the way back.I found it got in the way when I was cutting and battoning.I'll post pics when I get it finnished up.(All ground and shined).

Here's a look at what my bushcrafter looks like with the blade sharpened all the way back.

I used my Lansky sharpening setup to keep things basically straight. The new edge is in perfect alignment with the old edge and really freaking sharp.I'm going hiking in an hour or so I'll post pics of how it works.

That's a cool looking blade.

Also - that's got to be one of the best excuses for not showing action shots I've ever heard :)

I have one too. Scale shrinkage also, but nothing a bit of glue, oil, and clear polish couldn't fix. I wetformed the sheath and gave the blade a mustard patina. Its a sharp little brute! I should grind the blade all the way back too-good idea.

Edit: only just noticed the correct title had already been posted ... :o

Neat! What book is that?

That book has to be a Ray Mears book as his Woodlore is in the shot.

TF

No, this is the book ( I have the PDF and recognized the picture) ;)

The Survival Handbook
Essential Skills For Outdoor Adventure

Published by Dorling Kindersley Limited
April 2009
Published in the US by DK Publishing, 375 Hudson Street, New York, 10014 NY
Senior editors: Nicky Munro, Richard Gilbert

I stumbled on the PDF somewhere :o but I plan to buy the book - it is very comprehensive with clear illustrations and covers a full range of survival situations.

That book gets called a lot that's for sure.lol I really like it though.i read a little bit of it in the bookstore and I knew I had to get it.If it were more packable it would be perfect.
As promised some action shots far from my Llama.
I wanted to do some batoning first off.the new portion of blade worked flawlessly.

I can get in nice and close now.

All split up.

This project started out as an attempt to make a sort of splitting wedge-edge at the base of the blade to aid batoning tougher wood.I was so happy with the grinds I decided to go all the way and match it up with the main blade.

Pretty cool. Thanks for posting it. I asked "Mrs.Santa" for that book. Is the blade an 1/8thick?
