James,
I'm ecstatic that you like it! I hope and know it will serve you well for years to come!
The honor is all mine, my friend.

smell the sea, and feel the sky
let your soul & spirit fly, into the mystic...” -Van Morrison

Just sat down with my Breakfast- reading this kind of thing first thing in the morning is a Good Thing, well done guys- Nice Knife!

Congrats, James, on receiving that sublime Navy Knife!:thumbsup: And thanks for sharing the story here!

Thanks to all of those who responded to this thread. The generosity and kindness shown here is what makes the porch completely unique and a pleasant place for us to gather.
The Navy Jack has been either in my hand, pocket or on the nightstand since receiving it last week and will be for the foreseeable future. I can see someday modifying it into a single blade wharncliffe but not today, it is an amazing blade just the way it is. Yesterday it performed admirably slicing squash, zucchini, carrots and cukes to assist my beautiful first mate in the galley. The ebony is as GT said, "sublime" and the perfect cover for such a sea worthy knife. It will be a wonderful companion on future sailing adventures.
Mark, thanks a million!!! Your magnanimous gesture means more to me than I can properly express and in the spirit in which you gave, I will "pay it forward". Oh yeah... thanks for reminding me of Van Morrison's "The Mystic", it was on my mind all weekend. (great tune)
