... Hey All, I was wondering if someone who had an A100 handy could try the test that is depicted in this video with it for me please...

...this is how Aus Customs tests for a "flick knife" and will be the basis of delivery to me.

I have an A100 sitting in the US and don't want to waste my time getting it in the post if it is only to be returned.

Thanks

Andy :)

I cant speak for the a100, but new my emersons would not have done that. Of course you could contact whoever you are buying from...and ask them to tighten down the pivot

Andy, I can do you better!
When we meet i can provide you with mini A-100 and you can try yourself.

I have never found a liner lock knife that I could not do that with. I own an A-100 and it does that with ease.

I am curious how thorough they are... Maybe you could just have the person sending you the knife tighten up the pivot for you and locktite it. If it is tight enough anyone would have a hard time opening it unless they adjusted the pivot. Is that their only test/ criteria?

That is the only test applied. The blade can't be tightened so much so that it CAN'T be opened by hand or they call foul, but it can't be tight enough to prevent this.

Cesar...... I will take you up on that.... :)

I bought the knife months ago and it is with a good mate of mine in the US. Just want to get it all in order before it is posted (or not.

Thanks guys.

Andy

Andy, tried this morning, the damn thing has no retention at all - flips out like a bali... Even though it has TWO detent balls!
I see now why some people here whine here about the fit & finish on Emersons - liners and scales are not flush, the back spacer is protruding a bit on one side. :barf: The blade locks fine though and I don't see any loss of function.
I guess one day I'll change the backspacer and line it all up properly. :D
Just making sure you caught that, but our all-knowing officials (customs in this instance) have put ALL of one-hand opening folders on prohibited list , it might interfere with you getting it here any other way than in checked in luggage, unless you have a permit...

That was the big change last year, NO PERMITS. I have been back and forward with them via e-mail (the Customs guys were all pretty helpful) and a thumb stud etc does not make it a "one handed opener" this is the test that most blades fail. As long as it not a flick (in the traditional sense of the word) knife or assisted opener and it passes this test they will release it. I also have a draw full of folders that fail this test...!!!

Andy :)

Well I have a few assisted folders, but I brought them with me coming back from Europe. And folders that would fail that test, but luckily they have not opened my boxes.

Oddly enough, when I had them send me my latest CQC-7 direct to Canada, they were kind enough to tighten the pivot just to avoid any issues. Smart people in Customer Service ;)
