Anyone have any opinions on this knife? Could the lack of a guard cause a hand to slide onto the blade? How does it carry?

I like my A100 a lot. It's a bare bones knife with everything you need and nothing you don't. I think I would prefer a mini though. I have a CQC10 that has a similar blade shape so my A100 doesn't get carried as much as I would like. The mini would be perfect for me. If you don't have a 3"+ Emerson I would try it out if oI were you.

Great knife. No longer have mine, but that's simply because the stable had become a little too....well, we all have regrets. Regardless, the A100 feels outstanding it the hand, due to its ergo neutrality. Don't worry about the 'no choil' factor, because 1) the G10 is plenty grippy -- even moreso with the 2012 batch, and 2) unless you plan on stabbing everything in sight, there should be no chance of running your hand along the blade. Some of my favorite work blades are without a stop, and I still have my fingers.

As a low-key EDC, I think the A100 is one of the most PC blades that you can get from Emerson. I plan on buying another in time.

I have one, but it doesn't get much love just because I have so many knives competing for my EDC. But it is a nice, fly-below-the-radar Emerson for those days when vivisecting a terrorist is not on the menu. Otherwise, it carries and deploys very easily but it might not be the best where an ultra secure grip is required.

Thanks guys. How does it compare to the cqc-7a? i like the spear point blade but wouldn't mind the extra length. anyone know when the next batch of a100's will be out? Nice pic btw!

How does it compare to the cqc-7a?

This is the non-waved tanto B version, but otherwise basically the same thing. It has a slightly shorter blade than the A-100, but bigger handle. One thing I recognize with the CQC-7 is that the blade seems a little small relative to the handle size. Thats not really a prob, just an observation. This CQC-7 caused me to get several stitches, when I deconstructed a box and part of my hand with it. That tanto point is not to be messed with.

I have a mini and it is with me every day. My hand has never slipped. I am now considering a full size.

Buy with confidence.

the A-100 was my first emerson. one of the best IMHO both full sized and mini are awesome

I have the mini a100 and it is by far one of my favorite knives to carry. Great size, it feels good in the hand, disappears in the pocket, I couldn't be happier with it. Really well designed knife.
