Hello everyone!

I have been very close to buy Bark River Kephart for many times now but I always have fought off the urge.

I was wondering how does A2 steel fairs in field of bushcraft? Mostly ease of sharpening and edge retention vs. 1095 High Carbon which is my current favorite fixed blade steel?

I really, really like A2. I have seven or eight BRKTs, most of them being A2. It is easy to

sharpen and holds an edge very, very well. A2 is top 3 on my favorite steels list.

I also like 1095, however, in my experience, I would give the edge to the A2.

YMMV.

A-2 hands down!!! Strength, edge retention, in general better al the way around...

Have to agree with the others here. A2 and especially the amazing heat treat that BRKT gives their A2, makes for an outstanding steel. I EDC it all day every day and the ease of sharpening and edge retention and durability are just phenomenal.

You can't go wrong with a Barkie in A2

If you like 1095, you'll love A2. Holds a great edge, very tough, and it is easy to sharpen. A wee bit more rust resistant than 1095 in my experience.
Don't hesitate over A2, especially a Kephart in A2 if you can find one.

the Bravo-1 is also available in the SS version with CPM-154 steel.

Is it still at 58 HRC hardness, but it should be a better steel than A2, in terms of edge holding, cutting ability and corrosion resistance.
Is it a better pick than the A2 version?

thanks
