I was looking at some King Deluxe water stones. I have several Bark Rivers in A2 steel and was wondering if anyone has experience with these stones on A2 steel?
Ah the King Deluxe my first real stone . . . first real water stone anyway . . . all that other JUNK I bought before this stone was just that . . . junk/waste of money.
Still I couldnt really do all I needed to do just with this one stone. I went to strops and maple blocks with diamond grit that you can see in the above photo with the stone . . .
And I was working with a fair amount of A2 at this point.
I then added the Norton water stones to the mix and never looked back. Still I needed a decent coarse stone the Norton 220 suuuuuuuuuuucks soooooooo bad I was glad to replace that with a Shapton 120 and some diamond plates.

But to finally answer your question : Oh Yah Dog ! The King does great with the A2 ! ! ! !
the brick colored stone in the tub of water bellow.
It is just that as I was buying more stones the Nortons were more available (had been like twenty years from the time I bought the King to the time I finally GOT SERIOUS and tried to really figure out what I needed to know to sharpen seriously well. The Kings were no longer on the shelf in my town and the Nortons were.
I've since moved on to a comprehensive set of Shaptons but the King is still a very viable stone. No complaints.
