A2 steel?

Mission Knives makes an A2 folder.

It is really tough stuff, but makes no claims to being stainless. Of course, I've never had any rust on my Criswell Katana made of A2.

Bark River Knife and Tool is working on an A2 slipjoint, but I don't know when it'll be released.

my Severtech, automatic, is made of A2 and black coated. It sharpens easily to a shaving edge. I have had no problems with it in heavy work related use.

I have a couple, and if I could get more, I probably would. I think that it's great stuff.

A-2 is a great steel -- it will rust as it doesn't have enough chromium (.5) to be consider "stainless" (of course anything will rust with time).

I really, really like the A2 steel of BRKT. Takes an INCREDIBLE edge and it is supposed to be extremely tough, but it needs to be oiled after use. I don't think I would want it in a folder for that reason. I think the best way to go is the Micro-Canadian by BRKT fixed blade that is no bigger than a folder, extemely sheeple friendly and one tough knife.

IIRC, the A2 blade on the Mission folder is coated?

I love A2. My Chris Reeves and Mission fixed blades in A2 are all tough and easy to keep very sharp.

yeah right, you think a guy who calls himself "severtecher"
is gonna say anything bad about severtech? Hell, you can't even find a "normal" person who says anything bad about severtech.
:D
