Good, bad,? Is it stainless or carbon? I just got my hands on one of the fine Bark River knives, and they say the steel is A2. I was wanting to fine something out, about the steel they use.

I have a bunch of BRKT A2 knives. A2 is a fine grained tool steel that is known for it's toughness, sharpness, and ease of sharpening. It holds a fine edge fairly well. It will rust if not cared for. (I speak from experience, I learn slow).
BRKT A2 steel knives (Bravo-1, Aurora, etc.) are close to un-breakable in normal (read woodslore abusive) use.

A2 is a tough high carbon steel. Bark River Knives are great. A2 is also used in the Chris Reeve One Piece Knives as well. Both companies are well respected for a hard use blade. Great choice.

Thanks everybody for the good info. can't wait to get out and try them!
