After fitting the new haft nicely to the head, I decided to make sure the edge was nicely profiled and sharpened before I rehung it. 5 minutes into profiling, I realized the eye was curved. What a pain! A useless head and a haft fitted to it.

That sucks. What kind of a head was it?

It wasn't a name brand. It had the weight 3 1/2 on it and some small symbols. They eye was warped.

Must not have been too bad if you managed to put a handle on it before you noticed a problem. My guess is it will do what axes are supposed to do...

Yup! Wedged wood is quite forgiving in which voids it's forced to expand. As long as she 'hangs tight' (another colloquial expression to go along with 'get the hang of it') I'd be out there using it anyway.

If it doesn't fly off... It's fine! I've hung multiple axes with flattened eyes. Makes them a pain to hang, but if you do a nice job it won't effect the use of the axe.
