So, I check on the package tracking for my Large 21 with Diamond Plate engraving and usps.com says it's out for delivery today. WooHoo!!

My Wife was going to be home today (snow day for the kids) which worked out great since it was shipped signature required. I told her about the sig required so she was watching for the mail truck when it came. She watched as the letter carrier filled our mailbox (at the curb) and ...... drove away. WTF? So my Wife goes and collects the contents of the mailbox and finds a notification that the letter carrier was unable to deliver my parcel again... WTF!?!?

Well, my Wife calls the post office to enquire why this might be and the person at the Post Office notified her in no uncertain terms that the letter carrier will not attempt to climb the stairs if there is any snow on them since there could be ice underneath. :jerkit::thumbdn::grumpy::barf:

Now it was snowing hard when I left for work this morning and it snowed all day, there was 4-5 " of snow on the stairs (4 steps). No big deal to climb but there was no way the stairs were going to be clear.

So now, my Large Sebbie Diamond Plate is being held hostage at the post office until tomorrow :grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:

Anyone have a pic of their diamondplate they can share to make me feel better until tomorrow at 9:00:01am??

After waiting a week, another day of waiting can't hurt :p. I know exactly how you feel.

Same thing happened to me today. Granted it was a different brand (Dont go off on me, I own 5 CRK's) but get this.....my carrier didnt want to get out of the car. There was no snow, (it has all melted now)but the temp was about 24 degrees. She doesnt get out when its too cold, or too hot for that matter. And Heaven help us if its a holiday. She never delivers on the day after a holiday. At least your PO is open. Mine is closed untill Monday.

Wow, your letter carrier / post office is even more pathetic than mine.

What ever happened to "Neither rain nor snow nor gloom of night shall keep us from completing our appointed rounds (or something like that)"???

Sorry you have to wait until Monday dude...that really stinks.

Truthfully, if my Wife hadn't been home with the kids, the mail would have come when nobody was home and I'd be picking it up tomorrow anyway. And I would have been fine with that.

It is just the priciple that they are basically not allowed to attempt to climb stairs if there is ANY snow on them just makes me crazy. The fact that my knife was 2 feet from my property today and I don't have it because some bean counter somewhere decided that the insurance risk related to climbing snow covered stairs is just too costly. It makes me want to puke... :barf: :barf:

Oh well, at least I don't have to wait until Monday (sorry Red).

I have complained about 10 or 15 times on this lady. Last time I didnt get any mail for a week. What do you do? Sorry for your pain brother. Those Diamond plate are one of the few graphics I really like. All of my Sebenzas are plain janes (except my Classic African Blackwood) but I really like the Diamond Plate and the older waving flag model. Ive often thought about coming up with my own design and seeing if they could do it, but usually simpler is better for me.

This has happened to me twice. i live in the South where there isn't any snow, well not typically. When my mail carrier was suppose to leave my knives they refused to get out of the truck on a nice day. I would check USPS site an it said something like tried to deliver or no one was home or some garbage along those lines. Thing is I was home the whole time.
Another time same scenario. I was home ALL DAY!! The front door was open, cars in the driveway and they left a note on the door saying they tried to deliver but no one was home to sign, WTH!!!! I was laying on the sofa reading for the most part of the day, which is near the front door.
No wonder why the post office is in trouble. Terrible service.

I was once expecting a package with signature required, and I was sitting in my home office (which has a window view of my mailbox and my front door) waiting it's arrival that particular day. I saw the PO lady drive up to my box, then drive up my driveway to my front door. So I left my office chair and walked toward my front door. . . .

Then I heard the mail truck driving away. I opened my door, and there was a notice on my door that delivery was "attempted" (as if nobody was home). BS! I immediately jumped in my truck and chased her lame ass down! I asked her why she didn't knock, and she claimed that she did. BS! I called her bluff and gane her a firm talkin' to. I also called the Postmaster and reported her. And she knows it. Tuff!

Ever since then, I meet her at the mailbox when I am expecting packages because I don't want to "inconvenience" her by expecting her to actually do her job.

Sorry to vent, but I own a small business, and if I ran my business that way, I'd be out of business!

So when your next package comes, meet the postal carrier at your box, and explain to him/her, sarcastically of course, how you were somehow able to make it down the stairs unscathed!

Good grief.

My mail carrier delivers the mail through anything. No matter what the weather is like he has to walk up to every door because all the mailboxes are right next to the door on every house. I guess I am lucky that my knives are usually in the hands of someone that actually does their job the way it's suppose to be done. Anyway hope you enjoy your knife!

I have had similar experiences with the USPS. My carrier always comes to my door and knocks. Not once has he left a notice of "attempted delivery" while I was at home. I really appreciate that he's so reliable and never hesitate to tell him that.

You obviously don't have to deal with a union...

I have family members who work for the Postal service. Let's just say you would be SHOCKED at how poorly run it is.

I hate deailing with the post office. Here they have to make 2 attempts to deliver (which means 1 each day) before you are even allowed to pick it up. Its amazing they can stay in business with such horrible business practices compared to fed ex and ups.

Well, it's nice to hear that there are places where the postal service is still providing service. :D

It's amazing what having a monopoly will allow a business to get away with and survive.

It is funny though (letter carrier performance aside), I've been kinda impressed with USPS package delivery of late. The last 3 things I've ordered have come priority or 1st class mail. I live in NH, 1 item from Arkansas shipped Wed, here Fri. 1 item from Texas, shipped Fri after Thanksgiving here Mon after Thanksgiving. 1 item from Oregon, shipped Fri after Thanksgiving here Mon after Thanksgiving (that's clear across the country in 2 business days for $6).

Oh, well, mixed bag I guess.

Wow, sounds like you've got a real winner there for a lettercarrier.

I'm with you I like the simple elegance of the Sebenza, but the diamond plate really appeals to me. I didn't know they will (obviously if possible) do custom designs that the customer provides.:thumbup: The USPS could take some lessons in costomer service from Chris Reeve Knives.:thumbup:

Derek, I wish I worked out of my home like you do so I could meet her at the mailbox and let her know that I am doing that because I cannot trust her to do her job, but alas I work at the office in the next state. :(

Actually, I do have a pretty good idea -- my dad, grandfather, and two uncles worked for the Big 3 here in MI, and the UAW is one of (if not the) biggest unions around! Oh, the stories of waste, incompetence, and corruption I heard growing up.
