Abalone and first try at file work

Just finished this... It'll be my EDC for a while.

The wood is afzelia burl (sp) and the inlays are abalone (yes... buttons). I cut the file work on the back with a chainsaw file... and the cuts on the opposite with the dremel and abrasive disk... also did the blade thumb cuts with the dremel.

I ended up using a pocket clip from a larger knife (the big one in my other post), and reworked it to size and buffed it to chrome. (I'd hoped to make a clip out of wood, but could find nothing that would be rugged enough).

The bolsters were bead blasted and I brought them to the chrome appearance via much buffing. Finish is tung oil and buffed wax.

I enjoyed the file work... I'll be experimenting. My Inlay work... still isn't satisfactory to me... need more practice!!

Thanks so much for the encouraging words...

Unfortunately no, I won't make it to the Mass show... I don't travel well due to some physical problems. It's kind of you to ask though.
