When a person is new here it is hard to understand everything that is going on because we use so many abbreviations and words that not everybody understands.

When a new person logs on we instantly start seeing words and abbreviations such as liner lock, edc, ZT, pocket clup, scales, flipper and many more.

So new people can catch on quicker and understand better post an answer with a couple of your favorite knife words and what it means. Please include a picture of what you are describing if you can.

1. EDC = Every Day Carry.
My Old Timer pocket knife is my EDC knife, the one i carry most every day.

2. KA-BAR = KA-BAR is a knife company out of New York State. They are most famous for the MKII USMC utility knife but they make many kinds of knives.

Or you could do a web search if you don't understand a term ? But , I like pictures too ! ;)

BK9 = BK9 is a knife designed by Ethan Becker and was manufactured by a couple of diffrent companies but is currently being produced by KA-BAR. It is famous for its chopping abilities and it help start the turm of Beckerhead which is a group of people who really like Becker knives.

If you really want to devote yourself to this project what I suggest you do is ask mods to make a sticky of it that will appear at the top of forums list.

Change the title to something a n00b will actually understand. Something like “abbreviations commonly used in the knife community and their definitions.”

Then finally I would edit the first post you made on this thread to be an alphabetical list of the terms members will add in later posts.

You have to think like a noob. The odds of a new member finding this list is already going to be extremely slim. Then even slimmer the odds that they will read an entire list of posts in random order to find a term they want.

So if you are serious about it please take my suggestion.
