Not to sound dumb but being a neophyte forumite I am cornfused with a lot of the abbr used in posts

. In particular the ones dealing specifically with knives. Is there a beginner's list or can someone help?

I read a post the other day from someone about the selling knives on Ebay as opposed to here on the knife exchange. IMHO(I know that one) if pictures were included with the posts in the exchange it would help a lot, specially for newcomers. I'm not entirely new to knife collecting or using, but all of these variations, names and numbers get confusing. With getting older and with the thousands of different knives out there it's hard to remember catalog, model numbers and names for knives and a picture is worth a thousand words (specially if they're done in crayon).

Welcome to Bladeforums!

I agree I like seeing pictures, makes the decisions easier to make, so when I try and sell something I make a scan of the knife, but when you don't have one, or a way to do it, it's tough. Also there is something about bandwidth that I know NOTHING about but that the more pics you post the more it is eaten up? So after I sell a knife, I try and remember to remove the pic to help keep this here forum running like a top.

I asked the same question about 6 months ago. I could not figure out what POS meant.

I got many replies, the total number of abbreviations was around 100. If the search works (I had problems lately) you should be able to find the thread in Blade discusion forum - 1st year.

Sagebrush; when I asked this question of Spark a year or so ago, he gave me these URL's, which contain more abbreviations than you could ever wish to use. There is on the first URL a dictionary, so you can look up unknown abbreviations. Happy abrvtng.
