Abercrombie & Fitch Gerber Paul Knife

I have a half dozen Gerber Paul knives... they were my first 'collector' knife... back in the late 1980s... I had a handful of Gerber knives... but my Paul knives were in my safe! (still are)

The Gerber Paul knife was the first fancy knife I ever owned. I got that one (without the AF) around 1981 while in the USN.

It was great- You could open it with 1 hand. Press the button and flip the handle down. I've got a nice scar on my left hand index finger knuckle from what I opened a beer bottle with it.

If you are speaking of the original company (Abercrombie & Fitch ) I believe it closed in 1977
I have owned a few Gerber Paul knives and a few Abercrombie & Fitch branded knives

The PAUL KNIFE was my first one-handed opening knife, it beat the Spyderco! It was crazy expensive back in the late 1960's but was an engineering marvel in the knife world. It was a great knife to just fiddle with opening and closing.

A&F filed for bankruptcy in 1977 and closed their Madison Ave flagship store. Oshmans Sporting Goods purchased A&F brand in 1978 and had a couple dozen + A&F stores. In 1988 The Limited bought A&F and that is when all the Hunting, Guns, Knives & Outdoor stuff was terminated (Sad, Sad Day). My brother worked at the A&F store in Buckhead Atlanta and sold some really high end guns and other stuff. This A&F Gerber Paul Knife was from late 1980’s prior to 1988.
