First let me say Hello to everyone, I'm new to BF but not new to knives as I've been Collecting them for around 35 yrs and have been lurking around here (for 6 months) & other forums for a couple of years now. Now after studying Metal types for Blades & forging techniques for around 3 yrs I now would like to build a Propane Forge and learn to make a few knifes of My own.

Anyway about the title, My Mother in Law gave me a Buck 444C about 5 yrs ago for Christmas & even though she knows nothing about knives I assume in her younger days Buck knifes were considered a Premium Quality Knife. Now just recently while cleaning the knife I noticed that the "C" on this particular knife it's Stamped Backwards!

Now does this make this Knife a collector & and worth a little bit more or just a kinda Unique one??

Thank You!
Mike E.

"444" is the model number, and the backwards "C" indicates the knife was made in 1996.

Welcome to BladeForums!

That my friend is a date stamp. Buck stamps all of their blades with a special logo coinciding with the year that it was made. I'll go hunt you down a table...

Edit: Here ya go.

Welcome aboard the Buck Fever Express. You know it might have not that lone since you received it, it might have been she wanted to make sure you were a keeper before she gave it to you.--LOL- Glad to have you visit.
