? about canvas/linen micarta

So I'm playing around with some green micarta in the basement, using my handy 1x30 sander (80 grit belt) to shape the handle of a knife.

The micarta turns out all white looking, not even near the dark green it was.

Do I need to sand it some more with a finer grade, (200 or 400 grit)?

You will have to go up at least to 800 grit before buffing

i leave micarta at 220g. to me the whole purpose is traction. i wipe down the blade and micarta wiht wax,renn,car, or floor. that will bring back the green and leave the traction.
