Hi ive owned alot of knives in the past but ive never owned a damascus knife and I would like to get one made for my edc but ive herd that damascus will rust very easy but thats not what im concerned about becaues I can always put oil on it to stop it but like I said this will be my edc and I will be using it to cut everthing from boxes to string to fruite so I herd that when you cut fruite with damascus it will ruin the pattern on the blade and I dont want this to happin with my hand forged knife because the whole point of a damascus knife is to look good because I had a knife made from carbon v one time and I kepted it oiled and rust free but one day I cut an apple with it and the blade stained I tried everthing to get it out but it was permanent and from then on it made the knife look ugly so my qustion is if I cut food with it will my blade be stained and if so what about stainless steel damascus would that stain as well.

Hi there and welcome to the forums!

Whew, that was the longest phrase I read in a while. You might want to put some punctuation in :D
Concerning carbon steel damascus (non-stainless), acid fruits might ruin a shallow etch. The blade can be cleaned and re-etched though.
I have a knife in damasteel (a sweedish stainless damascus), I cut fruit many times and it still looks good. It has quite good rust resistance too. It's made of ATS34 and 12C27 (their powder steel version).
For an EDC that will be used to cut fruit but you want to look as new all the time, go with stainless damascus.
